Cover illustration:
We thought you readers (especially if you are presently up to your knees in snow) would welcome a scene from a warmer clime. Spring in the desert is a wonderful thing to contemplate, especially if you can be there in person. For those who cannot, we present this view in Sabina Canyon, near Tucson, Arizona, where Carnegiea, Ferocactus, Fouquieria and two species of Opuntia are surrounded by yellow wildflowers. The talented photographer is Lindsey Martin of San Diego, California, and you will be seeing her work again on our covers; we are grateful to Michael Buckner for bringing her to our attention. |
