Cover illustration:
Mammillaria gigantea, from Mexico, is one of the most variable of mammillarias, its spines varying in number, length and color, while the flowers may range from pink to yellow. Our cover photo is of a short-spined, yellow-flowered form grown by Wendell (Woody) Minnich of Little Rock, California. We like this photo by John N. Trager because of its off-center orientation and because it depicts so many of the attractive features of the genus. |
