PURPOSE: We are a non-profit organization of people from the State of Oklahoma interested in Cacti, Succulents, and other Xerophytic plants. We exchange information in organized programs and projects. Some of our topics are plant development, cultivation, conservation, and protection and propagation of endangered species.
Succulent - full of juice; a plant: having fleshy tissues designed to conserve moisture: a succulent plant (as a cactus).
Xerophyte - a plant structurally adapted for life and growth with a limited water supply esp. by means of mechanisms that limit transpiration or that provide for the storage of water.
An old saying: 'All cactus are succulents, but not all succulents are cactus.'

NEWSLETTER: THE OFFSET
This is our monthly newsletter about our club and member activities including our next meetings, show dates, and news from other Cactus and Succulent societies from around the country.
LIBRARY: We have a very nice library of books about cacti and succulent plants. It is maintained by the club and available to members.
PROJECTS: The north wing of the Will Rogers Gardens Conservatory is 'home' to a very nice cacti and succulent collection. It is maintained by the members of the Central Oklahoma Cactus and Succulent Society. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
Our members have also helped with the re-landscaping of the indoor succulent plant collection of the Myriad Botanical Gardens in downtown Oklahoma City. In addition to volunteer work, we have also donated numerous plants.
We are also working with the Oklahoma City Zoo to help them build a collection of cactus and succulents.
FIELD TRIPS: We periodically take field trips to various locations in Oklahoma for the purpose of observing Oklahoma cactus and succulent species in their natural habitat. We also visit the cactus and succulent greenhouse of both club members and growers with in our state.
AFFILIATION: Cactus and Succulent Society of America, and our club also interacts with the Cacti and Succulent Society of Tulsa, and the Northwest Oklahoma Cactus and Xerophyte Society.
