CACTI & SUCCULENT SOCIETY OF TULSA

Organized May 11, 1975

PURPOSE: An organization of people from Tulsa and northeast Oklahoma interested in Cacti and Succulents; to exchange ideas and experiences; to foster greater knowledge about plant development and cultivation; to encouage use of succulent type plants in public and private gardens through active support and participation; to promote plant conservation, protection and propagation of endangered species.
SUCCULENTS: Well known members of the Succulent Plant Family besides Cacti are: Agave, Aloe, Crassula, Echeveria, Euphorbia, Haworthia, Hoya, Kalanchoe, Sedum, Stapelia, and Yucca. Some are called by comman names of Climbing Onion, Hen & Chicks, Ice Plant, Living Stones, Jade, Mother-in-law's Tongue and Mother of Millions. Most of these are easily grown.
MEETINGS: TULSA GARDEN CENTER 2435 S. Peoria
FIRST THURSDAY of each month 7 pm

Programs about cacti and other succulents. Free seed bank. Plant exchanges. Discussions of common plant problems. Refreshments and "plant talk".

NEWSLETTER: STUCK-UP NEWS
Monthly news about club and member activities including next meeting, show dates and news from other Cactus and Succulent societies around the country.
SHOWS: Annual show in spring. Members compete for ribbons and trophies.
SALES: Members sell plants at the annual show in the spring and again in the fall. Cacti and Succulent related crafts are also available.
LIBRARY: Specialty books about succulent type plants are maintained by the club and available to members.
PROJECTS: The south wing of the Tulsa Garden Center Conservatory is "home" for labeled cacti and succulents. Members water and maintain the exhibit which is open to the public.
FIELD TRIPS: Group trips with expenses shared when interest warrants. Reports from members on their individual trips. Tours of member greenhouses.
AFFILIATION: Cactus and Succulent Society of America and Tulsa Garden Center.
