Cactus and Succulent Society of Malta

The Cactus and Succulent Society of Malta was formed in 1951 and currently has approx. 120 members most of them active. We meet the first Sunday of the month at 09.45 at Din L-Art Helwa, 133 Melita Street, Valletta, where a talk is organised usually with slides. We also have plants for sale at each meeting, a free library and a seed list which has just been issued, a monthly news sheet is also issued and a magazine once a year. In addition we have an annual show and competition. The society has a membership of 120 and the average turnout at each meeting is about 60 people.

Meetings are held every first Sunday of the month at the offices of "Din l-Art Helwa" (The National Trust of Malta) in 133 Melita Street, Valletta and start at 9.45 a.m. There will not be an overseas spekare in 2008 because we have 6 talks by a member of our society who spent 6 weeks in Mexico travelling on local transport and visiting some wonderful cactus habitats with rare plants like: Mammillaria pectinata, M.solisioides, Ortegocactus, many diferent Ferocactus species , and many different Ariocarpus species.

Annual Exhibition of Cacti and other succulent plants together with a sale of plants grown by the members on the 26th, 27th and 28th October 2007 at the Victoria Hall, in Oratory Street, Naxxar. (26th only open to members.)
