Aloe plicatilis (Pictures 945, 950 and 955)

Aloe plicatilis is a tree-aloe which grows slowly but can reach heights of 5 meters. This species is distributed only in the western Cape mountains. These pictures were taken in the reserve at Paarlrock, about 50 km North of Capetown on October 16,1996. It flowers from August until October and on the photos you can seen the inflorescens just coming out of the tops of the plants. Flowers are tubular and red.
